The Sherpa Lounge will be available to all adults on site between 10am and 4pm daily, just as a place to get away and take a break for a while. Please note on Thursday 13th August the Lounge will be closed for a private function from 12.30 pm.

Adult Development Programme: Learning at Lunch

Grab your lunch, pull up a chair and join us for a series of informal development sessions designed to give you practical ideas, useful skills and an opportunity to connect with other volunteers. View programme below.

Evening Social Programme

The Sherpa Lounge is the only place on site where alcohol may be purchased or consumed. Please remember that only off-duty volunteers should consume alcohol and all volunteers must remain fit for duty the following day.

Sunday – Behind the Adventure: Meet the Event Leadership Team 

Ever wondered what it takes to plan and deliver an event of this scale? Join members of the Event Leadership Team for an informal conversation about the vision, planning and decision-making behind IST 2026.

Find out what has gone well, what challenges we’ve faced, and what we’ve learned along the way. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, share your own experiences and explore how lessons from a large-scale event can be applied in your own Group, District, County or Division.

Whether you’re interested in leadership, event management or simply want to better understand how the event operates, we’d love to hear from you.

Best for: Scout and Girlguiding volunteers interested in leadership, event delivery, volunteering journeys and sharing ideas.

Monday – Growing Your Team: Finding, Welcoming & Keeping Great Volunteers 

Every section has ideas they’d love to deliver and adventures they’d love to offer, but many are limited by the number of adult volunteers available.

Join us for a practical and discussion-led session exploring simple ways to recruit, welcome and retain volunteers. We’ll share ideas that are working across Scouts and Girlguiding, tackle common barriers and help you leave with realistic actions you can put into practice back home.

Best for: Scout and Girlguiding Leaders, Section Teams, Group and District/Division volunteers.

Tuesday – First Response Practical Validation Clinic (Module 10B) 

Completed your First Response learning and need to complete your practical validation?

Drop in and work through the practical elements of First Response with support from the Learning Team. Please ensure you have already completed the required theory learning before attending.

Best for: Scout volunteers requiring First Response practical validation.

This element is not a requirement for Girlguiding leaders, however, if you would like a quick refresher, you are very welcome to attend.

Friday – Learning & Volunteer Journey Support Clinic 

Need help with your learning record, permits, accreditations, validations or understanding what comes next in your volunteer journey?

Drop in for informal support from the Learning Team. Whether you have a specific question or just want some guidance, we’ll be on hand to help.

Best for: Scout and Girlguiding volunteers seeking support with learning, recognition, skills or volunteer development.
