Volunteers

As part of our international service team (IST), you’ll experience more than you can imagine, working alongside volunteers from across the uk and around the world. You can make use of your existing skills or learn something completely new. Whatever your role, you’ll finish the week with new friends, new confidence, and the huge satisfaction of helping young people have the experience of their lifetime.

A wide range of roles are available, from programme and activities to subcamps, logistics, operations, safety, wellbeing, retail, food courts, media, comms and more. There’s bound to be a role for you.

Who can volunteer?
To volunteer at Chamboree, you must be a member of either the Scouts or Girlguiding. If you’re not currently a member, that’s absolutely fine, contact us first, and we’ll guide you through joining the organisation that best suits you and the role you’re interested in.

International Volunteers
International volunteers are welcome. You must be a current member of your National Scout (WOSM) or guide (WAGGGS) organisation, with an endorsement from your National association. Where standard UK DBS checks cannot be completed, Chamboree will follow the Scouts UK Safeguarding arrangements for overseas volunteers at large‑scale events.

Fees for Volunteers (IST)

For those staying for the full week, the total price is £120 (fully catered) or £25 (self-catered).

Prices are below for those staying for 4 days or less. Catering can be added at a price of £5 per meal (three offered per day).

• £5 for those visiting for 1 day
• £10 for those visiting for 2 days
• £15 for those visiting for 3 days
• £20 for those visiting for 4 days
• £10 for those staying for 2 days & 1 night
• £15 for those staying for 3 days & 2 nights
• £20 for those staying for 4 days & 3 nights

If you’re bringing your own children, we don’t charge for those under 5. For those between 5-9 years old it’s £5 (non-catered and non-participating).

To keep everyone safe, all adult volunteers must complete:
✓ Enhanced DBS / Disclosure check
✓ Safeguarding training
✓ Safety training
✓ Role‑specific on-site safety induction relevant to team/role.

Scouts: must follow the Yellow Card and complete the required mandatory modules.
Girlguiding: must complete the appropriate level of A Safe Space training.

If you are a member of a Scout or Guide association and are 16-17 years old, you can volunteer as part of our International Service Team on an activity zone. It’s a great opportunity to gain logbook experience for adventurous activity permits or as part of your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, or your King’s Scout Award.

For members of The Scout Association in the UK you will need to attend under a ‘Nights Away Passport’ issued by a nights away permit holder having agreed an InTouch process.

For members of Girlguiding UK, please seek guidance from your County.

Please contact us if you are planning to visit from outside of the UK.

As a member of our Young IST, you’ll camp on the Explorer/Rangers subcamp and will work directly with your Young IST Manager. You’ll visit the International Service Team subcamp for catering.

You’ll need to make full payment before 19th December 2025.

The Cheshire Showground is situated close to Manchester and Liverpool and less than 2 hours from London by train!
