Activity Zones

During the week participants can visit 9 programme zones with activities that will be adventurous, creative and unique. The programme is being organised to allow young people to challenge themselves, try new things and make new friends!

There’s so much to share and more is updated as the weeks approach. We’ve done our best to highlight the activities available below and watch out for updates on a “Chambonaut Challenge” on each zone.

1. Mercury

New for 2022! Manchester City Exploration Day. Make a packed lunch and set your alarms for an early start (timings TBC). Participants will be bused to Manchester City Centre for the day to enjoy an exciting mix of site seeing, shopping, food and drink. Each group will be allocated a prescribed “big ticket” activity with time slot and location (activities include Silent Disco Walking Tour, Apple Store Workshop) as well as a compendium of free activities and a map to explore the centre on your own. Of course, groups are free to make their own adventure and explore the city at their own leisure so long as you remember to turn up to your prescribed “big ticket” activity. There’ll be so much to do the biggest challenge will be deciding your options and being back to the coaches on time!!

2. Venus

An Astronomically “Active” themed sports planet boasting sports that participants aren’t likely to have experienced regularly in their normal school and social environments. Chambonauts will enjoy; Fencing, Volleyball, Virtual Rowing Racing, Baseball, BMX-ing, Grass Ski-ing and more. The base will also cycle activities throughout the day to be played in their Paralympic (or equivalent) format for an experience from a different point of view.

3. Earth

Our solar system’s own Global Development Planet! Investigating our ecosystems, people and how we live, work, socialise and interact on our own planet. There’ll be chances to sample world food and cultures, check-in to our “lighthouse” and consider life through the lens of multi-faiths or take a moment to reflect, pray as well as have team members on hand to lend a “listening ear”. There’s also a chance to enjoy our escape room challenge.

4. Mars

Masters at Arms on a galactic scale! Our target sports themed zone returns for 2022 with familiar favourites in Archery, Rifle Shooting, Laser Tag and Catapults. New for this event you can try your hand at Axe Throwing and Paintballing as well as a gravity defying experience in our Hovercrafts rides.

5. Jupiter

New for 2022! A full day of adventurous activities on our biggest thrill seeker planet. You spoke and we listened, you wanted more time to experience the vast quantity of activities on this action packed base. Astronomical adrenaline junkies can expect; Rock Climbing, Bouldering, Zip Lining, Caving, Scuba Diving, BMX Pump Track, Slack lining, Quad biking, a Stunt Bag free fall and much more.

6. Saturn

Zero Gravity excitement on our Inflatable planet! Our inflatables and other activities include; 70ft Obstacle course to challenge your friends on, Human Hungry Hippos, Bouncy Trampolines, Speed Reaction Game, Spider Mountain vertical drop slide, Bungee Runs, Surf simulators as well as the return of the infamous Dunk Tank!! Tell your leader they need to come to the zone in swimwear so you can force them onto the tank!!

7. Uranus

An intriguing planet of Science, Technology and more. Beaver Leader by Night, Scientist by Day. We’ve got a bonafide scientist at the Helm of our Uranus STEM planet! Watch this space for more details!!

8. Neptune

New for 2022! Nobody leaves our “Skills” planet without learning a new and exciting skill. Activities include; Scout Skills, Craft, Graffiti, Brick laying, Carpentry, DIY and flat pack furniture challenges and a working car to practice your hand at mechanic skills. Participants can expect to leave with the majority of the badge requirements for the Scout Skills (and equivalent Guiding) challenge badge.

9. International Space Station

Keeping us connected with songs, dance and laughs with our fellow Chambonauts throughout the day and into the night at the I.S.S. Arena. Check out our dedicated entertainments page for more details and information on how you can get involved.


The Camp rises daily at 07:00. On-site activities run 09:30 – 12:30 and 14:00 – 17:00 (except for Sunday). Sub-camp briefings are daily at 18:30 (1 leader per-group expected to attend).
